CDL Training Facility Progressing well at WSCC

Wallace State Community College's new truck driving range for its CDL (Commercial Driver's License) program is taking shape.

Most of the sub-grading is completed, and we anticipate pavement base to begin within days and concrete paving in 2-3 weeks. The project includes a 205' x 325' concrete-paved, lighted training lot and access road, as well as a small building with storage, rest room, and office/conference. The approximate cost of the project is $660,000.

NWSCC's New Building Looking Like It Should! (Always a good thing)

Alabama Fire College's Project Out to Bid

Aho Architects has completed the design of a new Building and renovations to the existing space of the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission. This project will be bidding in the next few weeks (General Contractors have already been pre-qualified to bid on it). For information on the bid process for this project, please contact our office.

Thomasville City Schools' Roofing Project Bids Under Budget

Last week, the Thomasville City Board of Education awarded the construction contract for Aho-designed retrofit metal roofs on Thomasville High School and Thomasville Middle School. The project also includes HVAC replacement and upgrades. We are pleased to announce that the project came-in under budget and represents a very cost-effective solution for the school system. Once this project is complete, almost all "flat" low-slope roofs at the High School and Middle School will have been upgraded.

The Contractor with the lowest bid was Assurance Service Group. We look forward to working with them again, and appreciate all the contractors who expressed an interest in this project and put forth the effort to prepare a bid.

New Roofs, Shelton State Community College

Aho Architects, LLC and Dunn Building Company have put new sloped metal retrofit roofing systems on four buildings at Shelton State Community College's C. A. Fredd Campus in Tuscaloosa, AL. The $1,243,742 project included new roofs, replacement of rooftop HVAC equipment, and related work on Buildings 200, 300, 500, and 600.
